THOUGHTS
David suffered when Saul sought to kill him before David became king. He
also suffered significantly during the rebellion of his son Absalom. There is a
strongly prophetic passage in Psalms 22.
Ps 22:11-19 Be not far from me, for trouble is near;
For there is none to help. 12 Many bulls have surrounded me; Strong bulls
of Bashan have encircled me. 13 They open wide their mouth at me, As a
ravening and a roaring lion. 14 I am poured out like water, And all my
bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me. 15
My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And my tongue cleaves to my
jaws; And You lay me in the dust of death. 16 For dogs have
surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands
and my feet. 17 I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at
me; 18 They divide my garments among them, And for my clothing they cast
lots. 19 But You, O LORD, be not far off; O You my help, hasten to my
assistance.
You can find the fullfilling of the above in a reading of Christ’s passion.
Start with the kiss of Judas and read to “It is FINISHED”! Like
the prophetic words of Isaiah 53, some of the specific descriptions are
undeniable prophecy! The FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY is so faith building in
my mind. To see God say something, and watch it fulfilled specifically a
1000 years later is awe-inspiring. This is the God who controls our
lives. He is our God, and the one with whom we desire to spend eternity.
1Pet 1:10-16 As to this salvation, the prophets who
prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and
inquiries, 11 seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ
within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the
glories to follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not
serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced
to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent
from heaven — things into which angels long to look. 13 Therefore,
prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely
on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14
As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were
yours in your ignorance, 15 but like the Holy One who called you, be
holy yourselves also in all your behavior; 16 because it is written,
"YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."
My Prayer:
O Holy God, impute holiness to us your children. Wrap us in your goodness
and help our hearts to seek you continually. May we ever be wise and
loving toward the world we live in, bold to make known your name. Help us
to lose our lives on this earth that we may gain them eternally.
In the name of Jesus Amen
